Eden Walk is constantly looking to support young, local talent. For the past two years, we have worked with the Princes Trust “Get into Retail” program.
The Prince’s Trust enables young people to take control of their lives - developing confidence and skills to get into work. The program is for young people who are interested in working in a retail or hospitality environment and wish to gain work experience in customer service. Our retailers also participated by offering work experience placements during the program, and the outcome of the programme was very positive with some young people being offered part time and full time positions.
The Centre also supports the Apprentice Scheme and has successfully guided an apprentice through two qualifications, specifically NVQ Level two and three in Business Administration.
Eden Walk also provides the venue for the Young Enterprise Trade Fair for school entries to sell their final products to members of the public. In total, 12 companies participate in the fair to compete for business and prizes which are awarded at the end of the day. Young Enterprise is a charity that empowers young people to harness their personal and business skills – it’s with events such as these that we hope to keep inspiring our community’s young people to choose a career in retail.
